Opća skupština Ujedinjenih naroda proglasila je 2023. Međunarodnom godinom prosate Međunarodnom godinom dijaloga kao jamstva mira. Europska komisija proglasila ju je Europskom godinom vještina.
Hrvatska zamjenjuje kunu eurom i postaje članica Eurozone te ulazi u Schengenski prostor.
U kripti Bazilike sv. Petra u Rimu pokopan je papa Benedikt XVI.
Sjedinjene Američke Države i Europska unija objavile sporazum o ubrzanju i poboljšanju korištenja umjetne inteligencije.
